Additional Facilities
Sample Preparation Instrumentation
Description: Provides infrastructure for preparing, purifying, and preserving samples.
Summary: Ensures samples are concentrated, stabilized, and sterilized before downstream analysis.
Instruments:
- Refrigerated Microcentrifuges – Eppendorf 5424R
- Refrigerated Centrifuges – Eppendorf 5810R (with adapters)
- Superspeed Centrifuge – Thermo Scientific Sorvall Lynx 4000
- Ultra Centrifuge – Thermo Scientific Sorvall WX and Thermo Scientific Sorvall WX+
- Freeze Dryer – LabConco FreeZone 2.5
- RotaVapor – Buchi R-210
Capabilities: This facility supports biomolecule and nanoparticle separation and fractionation with a range of centrifuges, while ultracentrifuges extend capacity for high-speed separations. Samples can be stabilized and preserved long term with the freeze dryer, and solvent evaporation, recovery, and purification are enabled by the RotaVapor and solvent purifier. Autoclaves ensure sterilization of media, glassware, and instruments for safe and reproducible experimentation.
