Preclinical Vivarium
The Vivarium, on the 7th floor of the MSRC, provides specialized housing and support for rodents. It accommodates up to 6,400 mice and 840 rats, using advanced microisolator cages to maintain a stable, low-stress environment. The facility includes suites for containment, quarantine, approved vendors, pathogen-free housing, breeding, and GLP-compliant activities. Each suite supports Animal Biosafety Level 2 procedures, behavioral assessments, and animal holding. A fully equipped necropsy room is also available. 24/7 year-round controlled card access.
MSRC’s Vivarium maintains Assurance D23-01173 with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare and observes the Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals. The Vivarium is subject to rigorous oversight by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
